How to get the best priced tickets to Abu Dhabi

If price is your major consideration then being flexible on dates is one of the greatest tools for negotiating a cheaper flight. To get the best deal on tickets to Abu Dhabi, always check the 'flexible date' box when looking for flights. Travelling a day or two later, or earlier, can make a huge difference in price, and some airlines give lower fares if you spend a Saturday night at your destination. Also keep in mind that not all airlines use the same pricing structure. Before you commit to a bargain check to see whether airport taxes and fuel surcharges are included, take a minute to read the small print to ensure the price you see is the price you pay.

How to get the best seat on the plane

If you can, book your seat when you book your flight. If that's not possible, find out how far in advance you can book your seat - and make yourself a reminder (I now totally rely on the calender in my mobile phone! How I ever survived without that fabulous feature I'll never know)

Don't panic if you see that a seat has already been allocated to you, you should be able to change this through the 'manage my booking' option.

Seasoned travellers argue that there is less engine noise and turbulence towards the front of the plane. Let's face it there has to be a good reason that First Class and Business Class seats are up there at the front. Other bonuses for sitting near the front are that you will also get served first and be first in line to disembark.

If, like me, you are not comfortable climbing over people to get to the restroom or you just like to walk up and down the plane to stretch your legs, then choose an aisle seat.

Find out whether the flight is full. Discovering that your flight is only half full, gives you the option to choose a row further back that is empty, giving you extra room to spread out a bit more. Although be aware of where the rest-rooms are located. I recently chose to sit on an empty row at the back of the plane and felt very smug until I boarded and realised that I was right next to the bathroom! Seat Guru is useful to compare on-board facilities and for tips on which seats have the most leg-room and elbow room. Unfortunately it doesn't yet cover all airlines who fly to Abu Dhabi.

Emergency exits are often sought after as they have more leg room, but if you are going to need your carry-on luggage think twice, as with no seat in front of you, you will have to stow your luggage in the over-head lockers.

Avoid last minute Airport Panics

If you can, check in on-line before you leave home. Thankfully this facility is being introduced by more and more airlines. Sadly some airlines don't allow you to check-in on-line if you are travelling with children - but relax with more customers using the on-line and self-service check-in facilities, the queues for travellers who need to check-in in the good old fashioned way, are shortening.
