Definitely not to be missed. But you will soon learn why they get the reputation for being grumpy. The first time I went on one of these tours I wondered why the ride was so short. By the time it finished I was pretty glad. This may look like the ultimate in Exotic Travel but your ideas may change once up on that Camel!
DINE UNDER THE ARABIAN STARS
A surprisingly tasty BBQ is included in this desert safari trip. As the sun sets relax in a traditional Bedouin Camp as your host prepares a delicious BBQ.
SAND-BOARDING
As you wait for your delicious Bedouin supper, take a moment to walk up the nearest sand dune or for the adventurous try your hand at sand-boarding back down.
BELLY DANCERS
After the BBQ you are invited to try the Shisha Pipe and enjoy traditional Arabic Music and Belly Dancer. Don't be alarmed when you are invited to join in the dancing ... its all good fun and a fantastic photo opportunity!
note: Belly Dancers are only provided when the Guest numbers meet a minimum requirement. So check when you book that a Belly Dancer will be performing.
Booking DetailsTours are around Dhs 275 per head (less for kids). Starting around 4pm you can arrange to be collected from your Hotel. You must book ahead. This can be done before you leave home, or from the Front Desk of your Hotel, once you are in Abu Dhabi. Dress: Even after the heat of the day it can get cool in the desert. Shorts or capri trousers are most suitable for women and shorts for men. Take a wrap or light pullover with you as it may get chilly later in the evening. Remember you will be in the desert so sandals, flip-flops but no kitten heels!
Facilities: ...and just to put your mind at rest, yes there are rest rooms available in the Bedouin Camp.
Food is of a good standard and will be provided for you. Non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
Rumours!
The first time I went on a desert safari I was fed a whole bunch of rumours about camel spiders. Even though I am an arachnophobic I pushed rumours to one side and have to say that although I have been on numerous desert safaris and camped in the Arabian desert more times than I can actually remember I have NEVER even seen a camel spider.
