If you love children's illustrated books then these two books illustrated by Patricia Al Fakhri will be a treasure for you to discover.
Elvis the Camel Written by Barbara Devine Beautiful watercolour Illustrations by Patricia Al Fakhri
The wonderful true story of a baby camel who is confused when he comes across a road through the desert. He gets injured and is nursed back to health. The story leads you through sadness to kindness and joy. It gives a lovely insight into life in Arabia. A beautiful book for any child (or adult) to own.
The Pearl Diver Story told by Julia Johnson Watercolour Illustrations: Patricia Al Fakhri
This book was given to me as a present, from a very dear friend. Not just for sentimental adults - it is a lovely story to read to children. Or for older children ( 8 - 12 yrs) to read to themselves. The illustrations are fantastic and the narration takes you back to a time when Abu Dhabi was known for Pearl diving rather than oil.
The Big Big Sea Story told by Martin Waddell Illustrated by Jennifer Eachus.
My daughter just loved to place her tiny foot onto the imprint in the sand - each time we read it - you'll know which page, when you get to it!
Although this story isn't set in the Middle East the setting is a sea by a City. So it could be Abu Dhabi. Once you have seen this beautifully illustrated book, you will see why I just couldn't leave it out.
Hope you enjoyed these beautiful Children's Illustrated Books Can't promise you'll see Elvis the Camel but you will get chance to ride a camel on a desert safari
