Arabian Books - Arabian Sands - ThesigerSir Wilfred Thesiger was born in a mud hut on the compound of the British Legation in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, where his father was British minister. On his return to England he was educated at Eton and Oxford. He was knighted in 1995.
Thesiger fell in love with the desert. In his book, The Life of My Choice, he wrote: ''I was exhilarated by the sense of space, the silence.
