Tracking down a Good Abu Dhabi City Map

With a city that is expanding as rapidly as Abu Dhabi, it is not always easy to find an up to date Abu Dhabi City Map. One of the greatest changes you may find is the Corniche (identified on Maps as 1st Street), which has recently been remodelled.

Having a printed map of the city isn't always as helpful as it might seem. The simple fact is that there tends to be very little in the way of physical addresses. Most directions are given in terms of the nearest landmark. Believe me when I say that for every single item of furniture I had delivered to my villa in Abu Dhabi I had to draw a map to give to the store so that they can locate my property. It's just part of the way of life in Abu Dhabi

If you are intending to use a taxi as your means of transport in Abu Dhabi, then a map really isn't essential. In fact one of the great things about Abu Dhabi is that the island is so compact.

Most of the major hotels are no more than a 30 minute Taxi journey from the City. Golf Courses, Shopping Malls and Evenings Out can all be achieved easily by Taxi. In fact Taxi is one of the main modes of transport in Abu Dhabi.

However if you know that you will be hiring a rental car then you may prefer to purchase a map before you leave your home. Please remember that any map you purchase may be slightly outdated due to the rapid growth of the City.
