Limousine standard Abu Dhabi Taxis - Are the easy option!

There are a number of Limousine Standard Taxi services operating in Abu Dhabi. These are two of the most popular Abu Dhabi Taxis:

These cabs are efficient well maintained and driven by courteous Drivers with a good knowledge of the City.

Limousine Cars are available outside all the major hotels or can be booked in advance directly with the company or through your Hotel Reception Desk.

Local taxis (as they tend to be known) are easily identifiable by their gold and cream coloured cabs. These cabs are abundant and can easily be hailed from just about any corner of the island.

Although considerably cheaper than the limousine service there are several drawbacks to using them. In particularly your driver may not speak much English, may not actually know where your destination is and may drive at alarming speeds weaving in and out of traffic as he does so.

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi recently announced his intentions to phase out the 'lo.cal taxis' and to introduce fleets of modern vehicles which ,brwould better reflect the Emirate's image.

If you are travelling between Emirates then check first with your driver. Certain legal restrictions may apply that a Taxi is only allowed to drive in the Emirate in which their licence plate is issued or to another Emirate. Therefore although an Abu Dhabi licensed cab could take you to a neighbouring Emirate (example Dubai) it would not be possible for the same car to wait and take you back even though this may be the cheaper option. As all reservations can easily be made by your hotel this shouldn't be too much of a headache for you.
