Note that the drinking age in Abu Dhabi bars is 21. If you are lucky enough to not look that old, take some ID! Children are not normally allowed into Abu Dhabi bars, in the evenings. If you want to eat out in a Bar with your kids, check with the manager first to avoid embarrassment and disappointment. Normally kids are not in eateries after 8.30pm.

Probably one of the most popular places to enjoy a cocktail, and also a personal favourite of mine is Trader Vics. In addition to their famous Mai Tai the bar has a very impressive choice.

One of my best friends in Abu Dhabi let me know about a great deal for Margaritas. Chi Chi's mexican restaurant have a great promotion each Tuesday evening. Margaritas are just Dhs 5 - this promotion is only valid if you order food too! Find Chi-Chi's in the Meridien Village of eateries.

Oh my, I just couldn't write about Abu Dhabi bars without letting you know about my personal favourite place for a pre-dinner drink. Cristal Champagne bar is my all time favourite place in the City.

If you like a lively atmosphere then aim for happy hour which runs from 6pm- 8.00pm each evening and will also save your wallet!

In addition to an impressive range of champagnes the bar boasts one of the best selection of cigars in the city.

Light snacks are available.

Later in the evening the bar becomes much calmer, almost like a Gentleman's club with a pianist playing at the baby grand piano.
