It would be easy ot over looks the Intercontinental Hotel, Abu Dhabi. As one of the older hotels in the city, it might not appear as glamorous as the Emirates Palace just down the road.
However the Abu Dhabi Intrcon has recently undergone extensive refurbishments and this Abu Dhabi hotel is now home of some of the most impressive places to dine and in the City.
Staying at the Intercon - Abu Dhabi
Known locally simple as 'The Intercon', the Sea View rooms are obviously those to look out for, if you have a choice.
The Beach at 'The Intercon' is one of the best in Abu Dhabi, although it is quite a way from the pool, which may be a disadvantage if you are travelling with younger children
who are likely to change their mind as to whether they want to be at the pool or the beach!
The Hotel has is on the edge of the City but literally just minutes in a taxi, from City Centre amenities and downtown Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Intercon - Restaurants / Bars
Not a full list of places to dine and drink at the Intercon, but the ones that we believe deserve a special mention:
Chamas Bar and Brazillian Restaurant
The Bar above the Chamas restaurant is incredibly atmospheric. The dark lighting may mean that you have to watch your step, but the views over the Marina below and sounds of live music from the platform between the bar and Chamas restaurant, make this a great place for an aperitif.
If you plan to eat at the Chamas restaurant then you will pass the band, almost suspended mid-floor on the way to the restaurant. The food is of a carnivore nature, thre is no menu just a clever system where you indicate green for yes for chunks of skewered meat to be delivered to your table and red, for when you need a rest.

Fish Market
The Fish Market at the Intercon remains hugely popular. As the name suggests first you choose your fish then how it will be cooked to perfection for you.
The Chamas Bar and the Yacht Club make ideal spots for an aperitif or after dinner drink.
Belgian Cafe / Bar
Buzzing. The Belgian cafe/bar is one of the newest venues in town. We turned up at 9pm last week but were too late to get a table. Booking isn't an option, so come early or be prepared to wait at the bar until a table frees. This is the place, I beleive for Moules Frites, Belgian style along with a selection of bottled and tap Belgian beers. We shall be back to try it out soon, but a little earlier next time.
The Yacht Club
The Yacht Club - at the Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Hotel is a great place for lunch, overlooking the Intercon Marina turned Restaurant / DJ Bar in the evening.
Sit outside and sip cocktails listening to gentle sounds of the Yachts in the breeze of the Marina, or head in to the restaurant with its night club atmosphere, or just sit at the bar and be mesmerised by the glowing vodka bottles and giant TV screen.
Eating - the menu has an Asian twist, if you can't read it the waiter/waitress will bring you a small pen torch. The fibre-optic lighting may be very atmospheric but it doesn't do much to cast light on the menu!
Dress Code: No jeans and collared shirt are essential yachting attire for this establishment.
