 The Emirates Palace Hotel is
one of the world's most opulent and majestic Hotels. Since opening its doors in 2005 this prestigious hotel has become a clear landmark on the map of Abu Dhabi, both for its hotel and restaurant facilities and for cultural events held there.
The Shangri La Hotel recently made a very impressive addition to the choice of luxury abu dhabi beach hotels. It is currenty in its 'soft' opening stage and offers stunning views across the creek towards Sheik Zayed Mosque.
The Shangri-La Hotel is 'between the bridges'. It is convenient for the Airport and Al Gazal Golf Course but you would need to allow at least half an hour (probably more at peak times) to taxi to the Corniche.
Set in beautiful grounds Le Meridien has lots of attractions. Informal al fresco dining and bars form a Village of eateries. The Hotel has a private beach and beautiful swimming pools. Le Meridien is on the island off Salam Street, close to Abu Dhabi Mall and the Tourist Club area. (this area is currently undergoing major roadworks, but diversions are in place)
The Sheraton Hotel is situated just behind the corniche at the Port Zayed end, at the bottom of Al Salamm street. It has its own private beach inlet. The Sheraton is kid friendly and has a good choice of places to eat. There are major road alterations in this area at present, but diversions are in place 
Recently renovated is the Intercontinental Hotel Although one of the city's older hotels, the Intercon has a great beach, excellent choice of restaurants and bars and is close to city amenities including the Marina Mall. The Intercontinental Hotel is located on the island, in a quiet location but very close to the Emirates Palace, Corniche, Marina Mall and downtown Abu Dhabi
